We are proud (and VERY excited) to announce the launch of our Grub Stub Program!

We will be taking in food donations (dog and cat) and helping these donations reach the people in our community that need it the most.  This program is designed in hopes that it will keep families from surrendering an animal that they temporarily cannot afford to feed.

Since we first received our food sponsorship through Nutri Source, we wanted to do something the help the community. We have always had food donated steadily, and once we were sponsored we were no longer using them. For the longest time we have given them to people who have called in need, other rescues, etc. Now, we want to go a little farther and make an actual program, where people in our community know that there is food assistance for their pets that is open to all who need it.

It is our wish that no animal be surrendered while a family goes through a rough time, that every animal gets to stay with their family while they get back on their feet.

This program is designed to be temporary, it is to assist people who at the moment are unable to feed their pet, but will soon be back on their feet. There is no set time limit or set qualifications – other than talking to us and letting us get to know you. We want to help, and we want to do whatever we can to help you.

For information on the program, ideas, questions on how to get involved or if your in need, please email us at info@littlefriendsfoundation.org or call (702) 463-9995

As an organization we have always prided ourselves on focusing on the “front end” of the homeless pet problem in our valley rather than the “back end.” By that we simply mean that we try to focus on intake rates, or the amount of animals being turned into the county shelter, rather than the euthanasia rates. Rather than chastising the county, the shelters, the “system” so to speak – why not go to the root of the problem? OUR community. Why is it that so many people in our valley think of animals as disposable? The daily average for… Read More

Diptic

Torch nuzzling one of our alumni. Torch Torch came to us as an owner surrender. She is a bright eyed 6 month old playful kitten that to be honest – is kind of perfect. We put her straight into ‘Kitty City’ our main colony room. Most cats, even kittens, take a little bit of time to adjust to living in this setting. Not Torch. She sniffed around for a bit, and then promptly attacked the nearest cat toy. She continued to amuse herself for the remainder of the afternoon. Anytime one of our staff members went into the room… Read More

It is long overdue that we share Churchills story…. In rescue you get accustomed to the idea that you cannot save them all. You have to. We know that. We understand that. We can’t take everyone in, and we are faced with the euthanasia of healthy animals in our valley every single day. In rescue, this is our job. To confront this, to work around this, to try and stop this. It’s hard . . . some days it’s damn near impossible. What’s even harder to understand, what’s truly impossible to cope with is when you can’t save your own… Read More
